DefMin Dusa: NATO will be present in Romania; two command centres to be created in our country

AGERPRES special correspondent Mihaela Tudorache reports - Minister of National Defence, Mircea Dusa, on Thursday announced that NATO will be soon present in our country, with two command centres to be established here in the coming period.

The measures that were approved concerning Romania are very important (...) having to do with the strengthening of security on the south-eastern flank on NATO and the EU (...) These measures concern Romania and Bulgaria in particular and are quite special. In fact, NATO is going to be present in Romania soon, through its two command centres that will be created here in the coming period. It only remains that in the following days the MApN [Ministry of National Defence] (...) together with our representatives from the NATO General Headquarters to implement the necessary measure for the establishment of these military capabilities,' said Dusa, after the NATO Defence Ministerial Meeting.

He added that the meeting was carried out under the special circumstances of the 1-year anniversary since the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis and represented an important occasion to assess the progress made and set up priorities for the strategic adaptation process of NATO ahead of the 2016 Summit. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of the implementation of the NATO Summit in UK decisions, especially the Action Plan aimed at increasing the Alliance's operational capacity.
