Students tear-gassed in school bus near southern town

PRESEVO -- 17 high school students in Presevo reported to the local health-care center late on Thursday after tear gas was used in a school bus.

The medical institution's director, Mitat Sahiti, said that all students were doing well after receiving treatment and were sent home after midnight, RTS reported.

Sahiti explained that the bus transporting children traveled from Presevo, a town in southern Serbia, to four nearby villages.

The police in the town of Vranje said that the tear gas was deployed by a 17-year-old boy, also a high school student, and that he was questioned.

He is now facing criminal charges for endangering security.

Locals in Presevo said that the incident last night caused "alarm" among parents and residents.
