ForMin Aurescu: Agreement of Minsk is a positive step, if implemented strictly and hostilities end on Sunday

Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu on Thursday said that the Agreement of Minsk represents "a positive step, if implemented strictly and hostilities end on Sunday."

"I am anxiously waiting for concrete results," Aurescu added on the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) Twitter account.

At the same time, in a press release remitted to AGERPRES, MAE says that the understanding resulted following the meeting in Minsk represents a first step aimed at releasing the tension of the security situation in south-east of Ukraine and at solving the crisis in Ukraine.

"In case of strict provision implementing, especially the decision to implement the cease fire starting February 15, of an unconditional and comprehensive manner, the understanding of Minsk today can facilitate the improvement of the security situation," the aforementioned release shows.

MAE underscores that it will closely watch to the understandings being implemented "without delay, completely and unconditionally" so they can produce concrete results in the territory, "creating the prospects for a wide political process of solving the crisis of Ukraine."

Kiev and the separatist rebels signed a road map aimed at imposing peace in Ukraine, providing in particular the establishment of a ceasefire regime starting on Sunday, February 15, and the creation of some extended buffer-areas, the Russian, Ukrainian, French and German leaders announced on Thursday at the end of almost 15 hours of negotiations taking place in Minsk, informs AFP.
