Vucevic, Kirby discuss obligations of Novi Sad, US cities
NOVI SAD - Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic conferred with U.S. Ambassador in Serbia Michael Kirby in the City Hall on Wednesday and their talks covered the possibilities of cooperation between the administrative centre of the Serbian province of Vojvodina and U.S. cities.
On this occasion, Vucevic said that constant cooperation on the local, regional and international level is an imperative for development of the local self-government, the mayor's cabinet released.
The Novi Sad authorities are conducting a responsible policy in all areas and they are committed to the development of its potentials, Vucevic said and underscored that priorities are embodied in economic development and improvement of living standards.
Ambassador Kirby stated that major possibilities for strengthening of the ties between Novi Sad and U.S. cities are always open, adding that some ties have already been set up in economy, culture, sports and other areas.
The officials agreed that international cooperation bears exceptional importance for the development and improvement of the system of city functioning because it offers ample possibilities for exchange of good practice.
Vucevic and Kirby expressed satisfaction with the traditionally good relations and the existing intentions to render future cooperation even more productive.
The two officials concluded that the perspectives for further cooperation in many sectors are good and that new possibilities should be constantly encouraged, states the release.
