Arrests of suspected Jihadists in Cyprus
On Thursday afternoon, the Cypriot police authorities proceeded in the arrest of two Syrian permanent residents on suspicions of both of them being linked to Jihadists of the Islamic State.
According to information, the two men aged 39 and 46 year old accordingly, were raising money which then sent to Syria to aid terrorist organizations. At the same time they purchased vans from the free part of Cyprus and then transported those to the occupied part and from there shipped them to Syria.
The Cypriot services have realized that lately many vans “disappeared” and to their surprise many of the vans with Cypriot car plates appeared on foreign news videos used by the Islamic State.
Both arrested admitted shipping the vans, however, so far neither of them has admitted being connected in any way to terrorist organizations.
