President Iohannis tops confidence poll with 64.6 percent

President Klaus Iohannis tops a poll of Romanians' confidence in politicians with 64.6 percent of respondents placing 'high' or 'very high' confidence in him; he is up from 60 percent in December 2014, in the previous similar poll carried out by INSCOP for the Adevarul newspaper.

Second in this ranking, according to the results received on Thursday by AGERPRES, was central bank governor Mugur Isarescu, with 42.1 percent of high or very high confidence; confidence in him declined from 45.7 percent in December.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta was third with 24.5 percent, down from 26.1 percent in December.

Next in this ranking came Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu with 22.2 percent (23 percent in December), followed by former Romanian Intelligence Service Director George Maior with 21.8 percent (up from 19 percent in December).

The opinion poll was carried out between February 5 and 10 on a sample of 1065 individuals, representative for Romanians over 18 years old. The maximum allowed error of this research by home interviews based on questionnaires was ? 3 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.AGERPRES
