The tax alleviation programme in the new Fiscal Code aims at reducing some taxes for individuals and introducing several deductions, to correlate the fiscal burden with the wages, finances minister Darius Valcov said in an interview to AGERPRES.

He reviewed the main changes to the Fiscal Code and concluded that based on it, Romania will probably have the lowest level of taxes and duties in the European Union in 2019. Romanians do not have Germans' salaries, so they should not have the same taxes either, he appreciated; he added that he hoped wages will be five or ten-fold in 10 years.
Valcov also declared Romania could recover one billion euros each year by curbing the VAT evasion. He mentioned the authorities' target to determine the Romanians abroad to return home in a couple of years, after they see these measures applied and the investments coming, the infrastructure works getting started. They would find wages 'not as high as abroad, for the time being, but safe, gradually raising, while taxes and prices would be much lower than abroad/'
On the other hand, the minister said, if two economic engines ? the European funds and the investments in major infrastructure are revved up, Romania will soon look to the neighbouring countries to find workforce.AGERPRES
