The dismissal from office of Interior Minister Veselin Vuchkov and the appointment of Rumyana Bachvarova are to be voted in Bulgarian Parliament Wednesday.

The proposal for Vuchkov's dismissal has been submitted for consideration by the Council of Ministers on Monday, after Prime Minister Boiko Borisov announced it late last week.

Vuchkov submitted his resignation and the act was deemed surprising by a number of government official. The reason behind it was said to be connected to the legislative norms regarding the selection of a new director of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) and the Chief Secretary to the Interior Ministry. In the words of Vuchkov, Svetlozar Lazarov and Vladimir Pisanchev respectively, had to be dismissed and a new selection procedure had to be launched on account of the new legislative ammendments.

After a statement made by Bulgarian PM Boiko Borisov in Parliament, stating that the behavior of Vuchkov is unaccptable and incorrect, both Lazarov and Pisanchev stepped down from office on March 6 of last week.

Meanwhile, Borisov stated that he will propose current Deputy PM Rumyana Bachvarova to become the new head of the Interior Ministry.
