Ombudsman: VBA provided initial documents

BELGRADE - The Military Security Agency (VBA) has provided the initial documents about the incident between the Gendarmerie and the military police in Belgrade in September last year and that is a step in the right direction, Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic has posted on his Twitter account.

Jankovic asked the Defence Ministry and VBA to supply documents about the investigation into the incident in Belgrade on September 28, 2014, while the city centre was mostly cordoned off by the police to ensure the Pride Parade went through without incident, when members of the Gendarmerie clashed with prime minister's brother Andrej Vucic and two other individuals accompanied by military police officers who were off duty.

Jankovic wanted to verify the information that the VBA had been collecting evidence and questioning witnesses about the incident, and to know if the Agency informed the police about their findings given the information was true. He also said that he wished to establish whether the VBA were acting in compliance with the law, so that he could be able to decide if he was going to file criminal charges if any violations were established.
