Sweden, Saudia Arabia Embroiled in Diplomatic Row

Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Stockholm has been recalled in response to a decision of Sweden to scrap a bilateral defense cooperation agreement.

The news was announced by the BBC, which cites the Swedish Foreign Ministry.

The document, which had been in force nearly ten years, was due to expire in May, but Sweden announced Tuesday it would unilaterally suspend it.

Stockholm cited human rights as a reason for its decision.

Recently, the governing coalition in Sweden has been shaken by an ultimatum of one of the coalition partners, who demands that the agreement be abandoned.
