Picasso’s pottery art to be auctioned in London

Pablo Picasso’s pottery artworks are being auctioned off by Sotheby’s in London, March 18. Vases, plates, bowls and others, numbering more than 100 pieces of art, all hand-crafted and painted by the Spanish painter will be auctioned for prices ranging between 2,000 and 30,000 UK pounds.

 

Picasso abandoned Paris and settled in Southern France after WWII. Aged 65 he decided to attend the famous Madura pottery school, in an area steeped in pottery art traditions from Roman times. Picasso experimented with forming ceramic pottery and painting their surfaces.
