Vucic: Brave police officers set example to everyone

BELGRADE - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic hosted a reception Monday for the members of the Serbian police who rescued a two-year-old girl from abduction in Belgrade on March 13, saying that they should be held up as an example to all who work in the state sector.

The toddler was abducted in broad daylight on Friday, when kidnappers coming out of a BMW car with French license plates stopped a woman in the street and snatched the child out of her hands. The abductors were arrested after only two hours of pursuit which involved an interceptor and a helicopter efficient.

"You have shown the great commitment that is being asked of all of us in the state sector," Vucic said, thanking the police officers for the efficient operation.

The prime minister stressed we no longer had "big mafia clans" in Serbia but we still needed to do much more in the fight against crime and corruption.
