Danielsson: Serbia makes major progress on EU path

BELGRADE - Director General of the European Commission Directorate General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Christian Danielsson stated on Wednesday during the talks with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic that Serbia has made major progress on its EU path.

It is up to us to provide you with support on the path, Danielsson said and noted that the fact that screenings for all negotiating chapters are being finalised is especially important.

Vucic said that the opening of negotiating chapters would be a good sign for all Serbian citizens, the Serbian government Office for cooperation with the media released.

The Serbian prime minister especially underscored the importance of the assistance the European Commission is providing in the continuation of operation for the Zelezara Smederevo steel mill.

During the talks, Danielsson underscored Serbia's contribution to the stability in the Western Balkan region through its initiatives for regional cooperation, especially through the proposed infrastructural projects, states the release.
