"A former chairman of the Senate, a two-term senator, a man who has carried the torch of Romanian Liberalism for eight decades is celebrating today his 98th birth anniversary. It is about PNL's honorary chairman Mircea Ionescu-Quintus. From the illustrious podium of the Senate, I want to wish him, on your behalf, happy birthday, long life, good health and happiness and may you all live to this honorable age as representatives of your parties!" said deputy leader of the PNL senatorial group Octavian Motoc.
Mircea Ionescu-Quintus was presented with two pieces of glass artwork by deputies and senators who wished him ? and wrote on his birthday cake "many happy returns to the most beloved Liberal!"
"Ever since I entered politics ? and I did that alongside my wife ? I have said the National Liberal Party will be our great family. We still see it that way. (...) This long life did not spare me bitterness, dramatic moments or great satisfactions and joys. (...) One hundred [years] today means a century of existence, of life and feelings in our National Liberal Party," declared Ionescu-Quintus. AGERPRES
