DIICOT officials confirmed to AGERPRES they declined jurisdiction on the 'Bratianu Family Land' case in favour of DNA on March 16; Pricop was officially a suspect.

The case was originally opened by the General Prosecutor's office, which began criminal investigations on several people, including Pricop, on May 26, 2014; charges included frauds and forgery of private legal documents.

Media reported that Pricop and others bought inheritance rights on land from the Bratianus' descendants.

After winning several litigations with the Romanian state in courts, Pricop and his partners obtained 10 million euros in damages from the National Agency for Property Restoration; journalists alleged forged documents were used.
