Dacic: All war criminals should be brought to justice

BRUSSELS - Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said in Brussels that no country of the former Yugoslavia should become a haven for war criminals, who should all be brought to justice.

After a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, he said that the Wedensday arrests of a group of peoople suspected of war crimes committed in Srebrenica was a proof that Serbia was sincere in its efforts to punish all war criminals.

"Regional cooperation is very important in that, because no country of the Balkans should be an asylum for war criminals," he said on Wednesday, adding that the arrests happened thanks to cooperation between Serbian and Bosnian justice systems.

A trial for crimes committed in other countries would not be possible if Serbia did not have a law on universal jurisdiction, which Croatia is criticising, he noted.
