Deadline for submission of environmental plans extended
BELGRADE - The European Commission extended by another two months the deadline for Serbia to submit special plans for all sectors connected to the environment, State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Stana Bozovic stated on Thursday.
On the margins of the conference entitled 'Circular economy and waste management' in Belgrade, Bozovic told reporters that the original schedule was for Serbia to submit the plans by April 12.
Bozovic noted that the explanatory screening for Chapter 27 was organised in September 2014 and that the bilateral screening within which Serbia presented the data on the situation in the environment was staged in November.
The state secretary recalled that the environment is divided into ten sectors, including waste management, biocides, chemicals, protection of nature and horizontal legislature.
We have the elements where we have almost reached EU standards, but we have other sectors where we still have a lot of work to do in terms of waste management, as well as protection and prevention of climate changes, Bozovic said.
