Greece to Unveil Reform Package Soon, PM Tsipras Tells Merkel
Athens will present shortly its list of reform proposals related to the extension of its bailout program, Greek PM Alexis Tsipras told German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday.
During his visit to Berlin, Tsipras held a meeting with Merkel that Greek government officials later described as "cordial".
The cabinet's spokesperson Gabriel Sakellaridis later announced that the reform package was to be unveiled by Monday next week "at the latest".
Tsipras even invited Merkel to pay a reciprocal visit to Athens in the months to come, German weekly Der Spiegel reports.
The paper also cites reports in Greek media outlets portraying Tsipras's visit in a positive light, with centrist edition "Ta Nea" claiming Merkel rolled out the red carpet to meet Tsipras, who for his part showed skills in "realpolitik".
Tsipras and Merkel held a five-hour-long discussion on the situation in both Greece and the EU, and talked about all issues that are to enter the list of reforms, according to Sakellaridis. Steffen Seiber, the spokesman for Germany's cabinet, made similar comments following the meeting.
On Tuesday Tsipras is also set to meet representatives of the German opposition.
