Serbia ready for closer cooperation in region
PRISTINA - Serbia is ready for closer cooperation in the region and with EU member states, with a view to strengthening the economy and joining the EU, Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said in Pristina on Wednesday.
It is evident that the region of the Western Balkans has made crucial progress after much turbulence, in terms of building peace and democracy, and in terms of regional cooperation and EU Integration, Dacic said.
"Honest cooperation is a foundation for stability in our region, and the Republic of Serbia will remain committed to that goal as a reliable partner, " Dacic said at an informal ministerial conference on infrastructure projects in the Western Balkan countries.
"Young people should be champions in promoting these progressive ideas," Dacic said, pointing to the initiative launched by Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic for forming a Western Balkan youth union.
Connecting the region in the fields of infrastructure and transport is key to ensuring a greater mobility of people, flows of goods and stronger economies, Dacic said, underlining his trust in a common future of the Western Balkans.
