Japan donates 150 eco-friendly cars to Serbian gov't
BELGRADE - The government of Japan donated 150 eco-friendly cars worth around EUR 3.5 million in total to help boost the environmental protection and cost-cutting measures introduced by the Serbian government.
The keys to the cars were handed over to Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Monday by Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Masafumi Kuroki.
"Serbia remembers the generous contributions from the people and the government of Japan after the disaster that hit our country," said Vucic, thanking for the donation.
The donation includes 22 Lexus, 11 Toyota Prius and 117 Mazda 3 hybrid cars equipped with advanced technologies that reduce air pollution and fuel consumption.
Ambassador Kuroki voiced hope that the donation will contribute to raising awareness of environmental issues and the promotion of eco-friendly cars in Serbia.
The total Japanese aid to Serbia since 1999 now amounts to around EUR 460 million.
