Most Romanians think the country is advancing in the right direction, while President Klaus Iohannis enjoys the highest confidence, according to an opinion poll of CSCI received by AGERPRES on Monday.

Romania is heading to the right direction for 59 percent of the respondents, while 31 percent say the direction is wrong and 10 percent do not know / do not answer.

President Klaus Iohannis has the confidence of 75 percent of Romanians; following in this ranking are Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu with 43 percent, Prime Minister Victor Ponta ? 40 percent, Senate Chairman Calin Popescu-Tariceanu ? 35 percent, and National Liberal Party Co-Chairs Alina Gorghiu ? 19 percent and Vasile Blaga ? 14 percent.

CSCI's poll also favours the continuation of the same relation between the President and the prime minister 72 percent; 11 percent of the respondents want PM Ponta to be more aggressive towards the head of state, and 10 percent see it the opposite way and want President Iohannis to take the lead.

Also, 55 percent of the respondents agree with the cut of the VAT to 20 percent; 29 percent with the economic growth; 23 percent with the fight against tax evasion; 25 percent with drawing European funds.

The poll was conducted on March 24 through 28 on a multistage random sample of 1,073 people; its maximum error was ?3.1 percent with a confidence of 95 percent.AGERPRES
