Mihajlovic: ICTY inconsistent
BELGRADE - The scrapping of the decision of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) to grant Vojislav Seselj provisional release is a display of power, and the government will take the appropriate decisions, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said on Wednesday.
The official letter from the ICTY has still not arrived, Mihajlovic told the TV Pink morning news programme.
"We will solve this situation depending on what is demanded from us," she said, noting that the government is responsible and that it will take care of its country.
The ICTY is inconsistent and not up to the task, Mihajlovic said.
The ICTY is accusing Serbian Radical Party leader Vojislav Seselj of war crimes and crimes against humanity. He has spent nearly 12 years in detention without a sentence being reached in his case.
He was released from detention on November 12, 2014 without any special requirements, based on his health condition.
The ICTY decided to revoke his release two days ago.
