Jurowski to close Belgrade Philharmonic War and Peace cycle

BELGRADE - Renowned Russian conductor Michail Jurowski will conduct the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra's final concert of the 'War and Peace' cycle at the Kolarac Foundation in Belgrade on Friday.

During its 2014/15 season, the Belgrade Philharmonic prepared a series of concerts to commemorate the centenary of the Great War, featuring performances of landmark works composed during and immediately before World War I, but also war-related works that are in no direct connection with the events of the Great War.

The fifth and last concert of the 'War and Peace' cycle will feature Beethoven's Coriolan overture and Symphony No. 4 and Haydn's Symphony No. 100 (Military).

Michail Jurowski is the oldest living member of the Jurowski family, which has given the world generations of composers and conductors who have all left their indelible mark on the international cultural scene.
