No valuable leads from claims of ex-minister's wife
Viki Stamati, the wife of jailed former Defense Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos, provided four hours of additional testimony to a prosecutor Tuesday but her deposition contained no new revelations or leads about corruption allegations against her husband.
Stamati, who was arrested last week after escaping from the Dromokaiteio mental health facility in Athens where she is being treated for depression, had asked to give additional testimony to prosecutors, indicating that she would make revelations.
However, although the 52-year-old claimed certain politicians had been responsible for both her and her husband being convicted for money laundering, she provided no usable evidence or leads, according to sources.
In her deposition, Stamati said she fled the Dromokaiteio in despair after her fifth appeal for release was rejected by judicial authorities.
