Tennis-Injured jankovic gives Kovinic spot in Charleston QF

CHARLESTON - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic pulled out of the Family Circle Cup in the third round with a right foot injury, giving Montenegrin qualifier Danka Kovinic a walkover into the quarterfinals early Friday CET.

Sixth-seeded Jankovic, 2007 champion of the WTA tournament in Charleston, U.S.A., received a bye in the first round and beat Germany's Tatjana Maria 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 in her second-round opener.

Kovinic will next meet with Andrea Petkovic of Germany.
