Govt tables amendment that may get convicted terrorist out of prison
The leftist Greek government has tabled an amendment in Parliament that could allow convicted "November 17" assassin Savvas Xiros to swap his prison cell for home confinement and an ankle monitor.
The amendment, tabled by the relevant justice minister, allows convicts serving a ? life sentence and with a percentage of disability above 80 percent to serve their sentence at home.
The erstwhile church mural painter was a notorious member of the ultra-marxist terror band until a bomb he was planting exploded prematurely at the port of Piraeus in June 2002.
His health problems and disabilities are practically all related to his botched terrorist attempt.
N17 killed more than a score of people, including US, Turkish and UK diplomats and military staff working in Greece.
