Vucic: Serbia to back all road network projects
BRUSSELS - Establishing better transport connections is crucial for regional development, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said at a Western Balkan Six conference in Brussels on Tuesday.
Serbia will do everything to back and expedite all projects related to the joint road network crossing into its territory, Vucic said. These projects will be connecting people, companies will be working together. That will strengthen the economic and political stability of the region, Vucic noted.
Vucic thanked the EU and its ambassador to Belgrade Michael Davenport for the support provided to Serbia during the floods and the financial aid from the EU solidarity fund.
Connecting the Western Balkans is on the agenda, European Commissioner Johannes Hahn said opening the conference.
These are very specific projects and you who are in attendance here have sufficient reputation to carry them out, and that will be a definite signal that the Western Balkans are secure and stable, he noted.
Setting priorities and starting their implementation is the most important thing, said European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc, while Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic noted that joint projects will enable the region to be closer to the EU in terms of living standards and ensure a quick integration of the Western Balkans.
