Minimum Wage in Bulgaria to Reach EUR 230 in 2017

Bulgaria will raise minimum wage in 2016 and in 2017, but will freeze it the year after, according to a medium-term budget forecast of Bulgaria's government approved on Wednesday.

The government estimates that next year the national minimum wage will increase by BGN 60 (EUR 30) to BGN 420 (EUR 210), up from BGN 360 (EUR 180) as of the moment (April 22, 2014).

In 2017, BGN 40 (EUR 20) will be added to its value, which will not grow additionally in 2018.

Earlier, a hike was also schedule for later this year, with the minimum wage due to become BGN 380 (EUR 190) on July 1.

Maximum insurable earnings will remain frozen throughout this entire period, their current value being BGN 2600 (EUR 1300).
