New crossing point in northern KiM to be set up soon

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The third administrative crossing between central Serbia and northern Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), Banjska crossing point, is to be opened at the village of Izvori, Zvecan municipality, based on the latest agreement reached in Brussels.

The two crossing points set up earlier in the north of Serbia's southern province are Jarinje, on the Raska - Leposavic - Kosovska Mitrovica road, and Brnjak, in the Zubin Potok municipality, on the road between Ribarice and Kosovska Mitrovica.

The two crossing points are under integrated management, implemented in line with the Brussels agreement, and the control is carried out jointly by the police and customs officers of Serbia and Kosovo.

The new administrative crossing of Banjska will be set up on the road between Zvecan and Novi Pazar (Raska region), which has so far been an alternative route, used typically for the smuggling of goods from central Serbia to northern KiM.

The travelers crossing the administrative line between central Serbia and northern KiM are only required to carry their ID cards. Insurance fees have not yet been introduced for cars with Serbian license plates.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that the opening of another crossing point in Medvedja municipality (southern central Serbia) has also been agreed in Brussels on Tuesday.
