Bulgarian Athlete Becomes New Balkan Cycling Champion

Bulgarian athlete has won a first prize in the Balkan Cycling Championship for the first time in a number of years now.

The 27 year old Nikolay Mihaylov managed to secure the gold medal after winning in the individual race in Bijeljina (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on a 23,8 kilometer route, featuring 7 dangerous turns on track.

Mihaylov is currently competing for the Polish team of Polkowice and recorded the impressive time of 28,30.03 minutes. He outbiked Albanian athlete Jupa Angert by 39 seconds, and the third spot was won by Bosnian cyclist Gabor Kasa.

Sports experts commented on the impressive average speed held by the Bulgarian - 50,105 kilometers per hour.

In terms of the overall ranking, the Bulgarian athletes did not manage to get top scores. Borislav Ivanov, representing team Bulgaria was 48th and Nikolay Mihaylov ranked 101st in the competition.
