Chinese Ambassador: Confucius Institute furthers relationship between Romanian and Chinese people

The Confucius Institute and Confucius classes contribute to the development of relations between the Chinese and Romanian peoples, Ambassador of China to Romania Xu Feihong declared on Thursday, while attending the official opening of the first Confucius class in Hunedoara city.

The activity of the Confucius Institute has a particular significance, as it furthers the connection between the Romanian and the Chinese people. Thanks to Chinese language courses (...) increasingly more Romanians began to take an interest in China, said Ambassador Xu Feihong.

According to him, there are currently four Confucius Institutes working in Romania, three Confucius classes and 17 Chinese language departments.

In his speech, the Chinese Ambassador mentioned the strong cooperation of the two countries, citing a Chinese word of wisdom according to which the relationships between countries depend on relationships between their people.

65 years ago, China and Romania established diplomatic relations and Sino-Romanian relations have since developed nicely, said Ambassador Xu Feihong.
 
He praised the high number of youth in attendance at the Hunedoara event, stressing that in his opinion, this reflects the positive development outlooks of China ? Romania relations.

In turn, Hunedoara County Prefect Sorin Vasilescu said that relations at state level have a local correspondent in Hunedoara County's twinning with China's Ningxia region, whilst the cities of Hunedoara and Deva are each twinned with two peer Chinese cities. He also mentioned the Deva-based bicycle factory set up on Chinese investments, which is one of the major business in Hunedoara County.
