EP decides to send mission to Serbia

BRUSSELS -- European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights has decided to send a mission to Serbia in June, the Belgrade-based Blic newspaper writes.

According to the source, the mission will support Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic.

t will "deal with the human rights situation, but also the position of the media, that is, the situation regarding the freedom of expression."

Sources from the EP told the paper that the mission will also focus on the status of independent institutions, especially the ombudsman and according to the daily, "is expected to support him."

The subcommittee made the decision on Thursday.
