Agency: Gamma radiation at same level
BELGRADE - Serbian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency stated Wednesday that the level of the equivalent dose of gamma radiation has not increased in Serbia after the fire in Chernobyl.
The blaze which hit the area around the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear power plant was localized Wednesday morning.
All values relating to the dose of gamma rays measured so far in the Republic of Serbia are in line with variations of the natural background radiation and the corresponding location of the measuring instrument and the expected seasonal fluctuations, reads the statement.
The average value of the equivalent dose of gamma radiation in Serbia is 100-150 nSv/h.
