Greek Parliament’s budget office warns of return to ‘era of deficits’
Parliament’s budget office on Wednesday issued a high-profile warning that a return to an “era of deficits” has re-appeared ominously on the Greek economic horizon.
The warning comes in the new quarterly report issued by the office, warning of political uncertainty and emphasizing that “only a final agreement with Eurozone partners will eliminate uncertainties and provide a new impetus to the economy.”
The report’s authors also stress that the current situation in the Greek economy not only threatens businesses “on the edge”, but profitable ones as well!
Meanwhile, the Parliament office’s quarterly report also touched on an issue first brought up by a Proto Thema exclusive: a sudden and muffled decision to upgrade five maritime surveillance planes to the tune of US$ 500 million!
In its report, the Parliament office said there is “ambiguity” over the course of state expenditures “because announcements are taking place in a piece-meal manner”.
