Terrorist attacks "won't be allowed" in Belgrade - police

BELGRADE -- Security is on the highest level in Belgrade, and the police "will not allow" a terrorist act like the one in Zvornik to happen in the Serbian capital.

This is according to the Belgrade police chief Veselin Milic, who on Thursday told reporters that similar "precautionary measures" have been ordered for the entire country.

"Interior Minister (Nebojsa Stefanovic) has ordered all precautionary measures for the city of Belgrade and all of Serbia, and we will not allow such tragedies and such terrorist attacks to take place in Belgrade," Milic said.

The police official was referring to Monday's attack on a police station in Zvornik, RS, Bosnia-Herzegovina, a town on the border with Serbia. A police officer was killed by an attacker who himself died in the ensuing exchange of fire.
