Defence Ministry: Two of the servicemen wounded in Afghanistan to be transferred to German hospital

All four Romanian servicemen who were wounded on Thursday in a booby-trap attack in Afghanistan are recovering well and are out of danger; two of them will be transferred to a hospital in Germany for further investigations, the Ministry of National Defence announced on Saturday.

According to a Ministry release, the two are Corporals Valentin Ciolan-Uta and Dan Cornel Craciun, who will be transferred to the Landstuhl Military Hospital in Germany for further investigations.

The management of the Ministry of Defence closely follows the evolution of the wounded troops' health, and ordered that their families be promptly and regularly informed thereon.

Master Sergeant Marius Sorin Diaconeasa and Corporals Valentin Ciolan-Uta, Dan Cornel Craciun and Cristian Stoica were injured on Thursday around 9:00 hrs by a booby-trap car explosion, while on a land patrol mission about eight kilometers southeast of the Kandahar military base.

According to the Ministry of National Defence, Master Sergeant Marius Sorin Diaconeasa is 36 years old and at his fourth deployment to Afghanistan; Corporal Valentin Ciolan-U??, aged 28, is at his first mission to this theater of operations; Corporal Dan Cornel Craciun, aged 27, is at the second tour of Afghanistan, just like 38-year old Corporal Cristian Stoica.
