Ulaanbaatar Mayor To Study Bulgaria's Experience in Building Sofia Subway Network

Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev has boasted that the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar plans to pay a visit to Sofia to examine the construction of the Sofia subway.

Mongolian Presodent Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj confirmed the announcement of Plevneliev, adding that the goal of the visit was to find out how the Sofia subway had been built on a small budget over a short period of time, according to a correspondent of the BGNES news agency.

Plevneliev and his Mongolian counterpart met face-to-face, while the two delegations signed bilateral agreements between the two foreign ministries on the training of Mongolian students at Bulgarian universities, on technical assistance in agriculture, on scientific cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.

Bulgaria's head of state described Mongolia as an important partner, adding that some of the best spheres for bilateral cooperation were the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, IT, and defense.

Plevneliev vowed that Bulgaria would support Mongolia on an EU-level.

He expressed satisfaction that the Bulgarian Parliament had ratified the framework agreement on partnership and cooperation between the EU and Mongolia.

Bulgaria's President wished Mongolia a successful hosting of the Asia-Europe Meeting in 2016, emphasizing that the event would boost the international reputation of the country.

Asked to comment on the difficulties experienced by Mongolian citizens seeking to obtain visas for Bulgaria, Plevneliev noted that Bulgaria had restored its embassy in Ulaanbaatar and was seeking to open a consular office there, thereby facilitating the visa issuance process.
