Minister to Launch Campaigns on Stimulating Bulgaria's Domestic Tourism
Bulgaria's Tourism Ministry foresees the launching of two campaigns aimed at stimulating domestic tourism, one of them being with the participation of the local authorities.
This was announced by Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova during her visit to the town of Kardzhali on Tuesday, daily Dnevnik reports.
Angelkova was accompanied by the five-time World Cup alpine ski champion Marc Girardelli, who is the minister's adviser on mountain tourism.
The idea is for towns to jointly promote each other by placing advertisements at visible places, with nearly BGN 2 M to be allocated under EU funds for the domestic tourism campaign.
The ministry's budget on advertisement stood at BGN 5.2 M, with most of the funds foreseen for participation at fairs and expositions aimed at presenting Bulgaria.
Angelkova unveiled the start of another campaign, which is aimed at presenting Bulgaria through a series of visits of famous personalities in different regions of the country.
Apart from promoting Bulgaria by telling about the places, which are worth visiting, Girardelli is working on the creation of a strategy for the development of mountain tourism.
During their stay in Kardzhali, Angelkova and Girardelli visited the regional historical museum, the monastery complex St John the Baptist and made a tour of the ancient Thracian town of Perperikon.
