Spain's Foreign Minister Arrives in Sofia for Official Visit

Spain's Foreign Minister José García-Margallo y Marfil arrives Tuesday in Sofia on an official visit at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Daniel Mitov.

During the visit, he will be received by Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov too, according to the press office of the Foreign Ministry.

The agenda of the talks includes bilateral relations and EU and international affairs.

The foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Spain will hold a joint press conference at the Foreign Ministry at 1:30 p.m.

In an interview for Capital weekly, Spanish Ambassador to Bulgaria Jose Luis Tapia emphasizes that Bulgaria and Spain have a lot in common, taking into account that they have external EU borders.

In Tapia's words, Bulgaria and Spain have common problems such as refugees and illegal immigration.

The Spanish Ambassador to Bulgaria points out that the two countries can achieve a lot through cooperation in a number of spheres.

He notes that trust, reputation, and transparency are crucial for the development of the business environment.

Tapia underscores that judicial reform is imperative because the country cannot attract confidence unless its judiciary works.
He also argues that Bulgaria's public administration needs to be modernized.
