Cells of Fire group violently interrupts GD trial (photos)

The ultranationalist Golden Dawn trial taking place at a makeshift court at Korydallos prison was filled with tension on Friday as unknown assailants threw water on journalists while calling out threatening slogans. A number of people were concerned that there would be a security issue.

According to sources, the young men who entered the court were members of the organization, Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire, known for its firebomb attacks. The same sources state that the same people who barged into the room had also stood accused for the group.

The situation only serves to show the unsuitability of the makeshift courtroom as a venue for the trial.

The trial of 69 GD members, including their leader Nikos Michaloliakos, is set to last for at least a year and will involve 300 witnesses and 120 lawyers.
