Galatasaray advance to cup final, looking for double
Turkish Spor Toto Süper League leaders Galatasaray advanced to the Ziraat Turkey Cup's semi-final May 29 with an aggregate score of 5-3 against Medicana Sivasspor, despite losing the second leg 2-1 away in Sivas.
Medicana Sivasspor'sBatuhan Karadeniz scored two quick goals at the 68th and 74th minutes, taking the Lions by surprise. However, Galatasaray capitalized on a penalty awarded by the referee, which Emre Çolak converted at the 83rd minute.
But the April 30 first leg's 4-1 thrashing at home in Istanbul was enough for the title contenders and the league's current top seed, who are waiting for the winner of the Fenerbahçe-Bursaspor match-up after the second-leg game on May 21.
Second-seed Fenerbahçe is ahead 2-1.
Galatasaray tops the Spor Toto Süper League with 73 points and two games until the end, as Fenerbahçe follows three points behind.
