Civil aviation union cancels action on minister's pledge

The Federation of Civil Aviation Authority Unions (OSYPA) called off Friday a 48-hour strike that was due to take place Saturday and Monday.

The decision to cancel the planned action was taken after OSYPA representatives held talks with Alternate Minister for Transport Christos Spritzis Friday.

Spritzis pledged to speak to the Finance Ministry about releasing more funds for civil aviation after OSYPA complained of staff shortages and poor maintenance of equipment. He also promised to immediately provide 9 million euros to address the latter issue.

The strike was not expected to cause major disruption to international and domestic flights.
