Policeman remanded in custody over daughter's death

A 47-year-old policeman arrested in Thessaloniki earlier this week on suspicion of strangling his 7-year-old daughter was remanded in custody after facing a local magistrate on Thursday.

Reports on Thursday suggested that in his 20-minute deposition the officer argued he was suffering from psychological problems and asked to go undergo a psychiatric evaluation. A decision was expected by the magistrate.

In the meantime, it remained unclear to which prison facility the suspect was going to be admitted.
