MApN: TRIDENT JOUST 15 military exercise to be carried out in Romania and Bulgaria over June 17-28

According to a MApN release on Monday sent to AGERPRES, for the first time on the occasion of this exercise, structures of an Allied Joint Force Command will be deployed to Romania and, another first, there will be staged a simulation of transfer of command and control of the NATO's Response Force to a temporary location. Thus, the command and control will be temporary moved to Romania for the exercise.

The TRIDENT JOUST 15 military exercise, conducted by the Allied Joint Force Command Naples personnel, which is in charge with the NATO Response Force this year, will start on Wednesday on the Cincu Range in Brasov County and will end on June 28.

'The exercise is supposed to probe the Allied Joint Force Command Naples' capacity to conduct a collective defense mission of the Alliance,' Admiral Mark Ferguson, the commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples said when announcing the start of the exercise in May, together with the Minister of National Defense, Mircea Dusa.

Ferguson also showed that this deployment of command forces will also probe the operational capacity of the troops during the switch of command and control between the Command Force from Naples and the elements that will be deployed to Cincu.

TRIDENT JOUST is part of a larger series of exercises called ALLIED SHIELD. The NATO exercises from this series are of a defensive nature and are part of the set of NATO's assurance measures. The operations will focus on increasing inter-operability, the operational capacity and the reaction capacity of the allied and partner states.
