Sofia Isn't Short of Festival Options This Weekend
An art fest, a music fest, and a colors fest - here are three major events taking place in and around Sofia this weekend.
The Water Tower Art Fest, running June 20-28, kicks of at 18:00, Saturday, and will feature video projections, installations, an exhibition, performances at public spaces, and lots of experimental music.
Most of the program is taking place June 20-21, but some of the events, in both Sofia and the nearby town of Pernik, are due over the week to follow.
The aim of the festival, whose organizers describe it as "the biggest international contemporary art festival in Sofia", is to incorporate "alternative spaces in series of exhibitions in June each year."
Voinegovtsi Wrong Fest is to be held Saturday and Sunday for a third year running near the village of Voinegovtsi, located just a few kilometers from Bulgaria's capital.
For those willing to reach Wrong fest, shuttles will run every 15 minutes both days from 14:00 and 24:00 between the Vassil Levski monument and Voynegovtsi. The cost of the trip will be 1.50 BGN each way.
The program will feature both Bulgarian and International bands in a myriad of genres, the full list of which is available here.
Tickets are still available at the entrance of Wrong Fest, at BGN 45 / EUR 23.
The Holi Festival for its part is just about to produce (stating at 14:00 on Saturday) a combination of music and colors inspired by the ancient Indian tradition. Tickets are at BGN 30 / EUR 15.
The first edition, which took place on June 21, 2014, drew more than 4000 visitors.
