Bulgaria's top male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov proceeded to the third round of Wimbledon after recording a second victory in the tournament on Wednesday.

In the second round, Dimitrov defeated Steve Johnson from the USA with 7:6 (8), 6:2, 7:6 (2) in a match, which lasted 2 hours and 11 minutes.

Although Johnson offered a more staunch resistance than Dimitrov's first opponent, the Bulgarian again did not concede a set, daily Dnevnik reports.

Dimitrov again demonstrated concentration, a solid serve, mad a few unforced errors and did not concede a break.

The Bulgarian claimed the first set, in which the players won all their service games, after achieving a vital mini-break in the tie-break.

Dimitrov made a break in the opening game of the second set and then won another one in the fourth one, establishing a comfortable 4:1 lead and winning the set with ease.

The third set had a similar development to the first one - with the serving players claiming all their games.

It was again Dimitrov, who did better in the tie-break and claimed the final victory after achieving a mini-break.

In the third round, the Bulgarian will face Richard Gasquet from France, Dimitrov having lost all his four encounters with the Frenchman.
