First projected results show ‘No’ vote ahead

The “Νο” vote is ahead 46,5 το 52,5 percent in the projected results of the first telephone opinion poll released on Sunday evening by the Marc firm, with the “Yes” vote expected to garner 45.5 percent to 51.5 percent of the vote, while the GPO firm’s results on Mega television give 48.5 percent for “yes” to 51.5 percent for “No” in the Greek referendum.

An opinion poll by MRB for Star TV gives:

The “no” vote, therefore, appears as marginally ahead, based on pollsters projections, although a so-called “hidden vote” remains to be counted. Moments after the polls closed, nevertheless, showed that a “long night” was ahead in terms of the finally tally.

One thing’s crystal clear, however, Greek society is absolutely divided at the moment.

Regardless of the final referendum results, the focus is now on the SYRIZA government, which called the referendum in a bid to boost its negotiating power (and to keep its mandate), with meetings now expected in the Maximos Mansion government house and the finance ministry.
