Greek president to Tsipras: We cannot image Greece outside EU, eurozone

Alexis Tsipras met with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos after midnight in the early morning hours on Monday, hours after a landslide “no” vote in the referendum.

In greeting the Greek premier, Pavlopoulos said Sunday’s election decision gives the government authorization for an agreement with creditors. He also said it was unthinkable to image Greece outside Europe or the eurozone.

On his part, Tsipras referred to the formation of a strong national front to restore normalcy in order to “seek an immediate solution”.

“I believe the Greek people gave their response, despite difficult conditions. We must now boost our national prospects and unity,” he said.

Finally, it was announced that a political party leaders’ meeting will be convened on Monday under the chairmanship of Pavlopoulos.
