Head of Bulgaria's National Science Fund Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

Nikolay Hristov, Director of the National Science Fund (NSF) at Bulgaria's Ministry of Education and Science (MES), has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Hristov was arrested in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old man on July 14, 2015, according to a media statement of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.

The man was shot dead at around 6:40 p.m. on 13 Tsanko Tserkovski Street, Sofia.

The victim was deadly shot through his right eye.

The investigation led to the arrest of Hristov.

Hristov has been charged with murder.

Hristov was arrested on July 15 for a period of up to 72 hours and on July 17 the Sofia City Court remanded him in custody.
