Father of dead Syrian boy returns to Kobane to bury family: AFP

The father of a three-year-old Syrian boy whose body washed up on a Turkish beach in an image that shocked the world returned to his hometown Kobane on Sept. 4 to bury his family.

Abdullah Kurdi arrived at the Turkish border town of Suruç in the southeastern province of ?anl?urfa with the funeral caskets of his sons and wife who drowned while trying to get to Europe, and headed towards the flashpoint Syrian town with family members and Turkish security forces, Agence France-Presse reported.

The long convoy was stopped from entering Kobane. 

Abdullah Kurdi told reporters late Sept. 3 that he had no demands for the rest of his life, after his sons' loss, according to Do?an News Agency.

He lost his two children, Aylan and his five-year-old brother Galip Kurdi, along with his 27-year-old wife Zahim Kurdi, when their boat capsized in the Aegean Sea on Sept. 2. While the corpses were brought to Istanbul late Sept. 3, father Kurdi told reporters, "As a father without his children, I want nothing in further; I have nothing to demand of this entire life for myself. I only want peace in Syria," urging the tragedy in Syria should end.

"There is a war going on where we live. We have fled the war. We want the world to see us, recognize us. We went through a disaster. But measures should be taken to prevent another disaster. These miseries should end," said the 40-year-old man.

Abdullah Kurdi said he wanted to bury his loved ones in Kobane, their hometown. "My sister lives in Canada.

A Canadian official called me to ask if I wanted to bury my wife and kids in Canada. I didn't accept. I am waiting here to take my corpses and bury them in Kobane.
